A Little Candy Bribery Goes a Long Way Edition:

My kids LOVE candy just like their Mama. Everyday they ask for some variation of candy, lolli, ice cream, etc. This candy addiction really helps me when I want to get some photos of them together. It goes something like this:

Me: Will you hold hands?
S&H: NO! Bleh!
Me: If you hold hand for two minutes and walk that way towards the candy store we’ll go inside and pick out a special candy for you.
S&H: Immediately grab each others hands and head towards the candy store.
Too bad when we got there the candy store had closed down. =( This little shopping center is SO stinking cute most of the stores have closed their doors. It is so sad.

The Cute is Enough to Melt the Coldest of Hearts Edition:

Oh my heavens, how I love these little kids! I SO wish Heaten was looking at me, but as usual, when the camera comes out he avoids me at all costs. =) I still love, love, love this photo. This very well may be my next gallery wrap!

When Mama is Away the Kids Will Play Edition:

From upstairs I heard them giggling maddly, but hey, they weren’t fighting so I didn’t worry too much. Hahahaha, this is what I came back to.

Fun With Twins Edition:

Have I mentioned lately that three year old twins are awesome {and crazy all at the same time}!

Princess Tutu Edition:

Shenzie all dressed up for Disney on Ice. This was before she added her Princess Crown, purse, and wand.

And of course I have to share twin love which continues to melt my heart.

We’re Three Edition:

Ok, so my Twinzies actually turned three in October and I’m just now getting around to finishing up their session. We headed up to Bonnie Springs since we’d never been and they have a little train you can ride. Heaten loves him some Choo Choo so this was a big hit!! They also have a “zoo” that wasn’t so much of a hit - Shenzie was scared of the animals and Heaten just kept saying “Poo-ee, tinky”. I must admit, it DID smell pretty bad.

Normally when I bust out my camera Heaten just hides his face. He doesn’t like looking at the camera so when I am trying to photograph him I go into Stealth Mom Mode, or SMM. Shenzie on the other hand is a little cheese ball and loves to pose for me. Ha, see below for Shenzie Posing 101:

This day was the exception and I didn’t have to bust out SMM even once! Heaten was just so happy to be out and about with Daddy and Mama that he laughed, giggled, played, and even let me photograph him.

*On a side note, Las Vegas SUCKS! These photos were taken at Bonnie Springs in their Old Town and “Zoo” area. I had grand plans to do an engagement session there this spring until I found out they charge $350 to shoot there. $350!?!?!?!? Seriously, that is just insane. Highway robbery and absolutely ridiculous.

Many years ago I got a film Minolta Point and Shoot for Christmas. I still have this camera and even though it is old, beat up, and retired, it reminds me how my journey began.

[My little curly haired ham.]

About 6 years ago I got my first DSLR and my world was officially rocked!! I had the original Digital Rebel and LOVED this camera. I took it everywhere and learned the ins and outs of the world of DSLR. Sadly one day it just up and broke {the mirror lockup broke} so even though I was bummed I was VERY excited to get a new camera. My next camera was a Canon XTi. Oh how I loved this camera. It too went everywhere I went. I continued to learn my camera, constantly trying new settings, practicing on friends and family, shooting lots of nature with my Macro lens, and improving my photography. Before long I felt I had outgrown this camera and was ready for an upgrade. Enter Canon 50D. Ahhhh, what a great upgrade. This camera is pretty awesome. And then of course the 5D Mark II came out and my dream of owning a Full Frame camera began.

[This is what I get when I ask Heaten to show me his eyes. =)]

Let me just go off on a little tangent for a minute and say how incredibly lucky I am to have such a wonderful, supportive, and awesome husband. Without his support, help, encouragement, and gentle push I would not be where I am and doing what I love. Thank you SO MUCH Jeff for being amazing and awesome.

So my amazing and awesome husband got me my DREAM camera for my birthday {and yes I know my birthday is not officially here, but whatev, we like to get presents early around here}. I am the proud new parent to a brand spankin new 5D Mark II. Ahhhh, this camera is just too amazing and wonderful. And yes, it is just like my third child. =)

[Shenzie has started posing for me when I bust out the camera, so cute!]

I am officially in camera heaven with my 5D Mark II and my 50D as backup. I am still learning the video feature of the 5D, but already I am blown away with the perfectness of it’s images.

Thank you Jeff for the best birthday present EVER!
