Gosh, where do I even begin? How about I begin by saying that this session rocked my socks off. Then I’ll say, man, this session really rocked my socks off. Of course I’m sure it has a lot to do with the fact that I was photographing my best friend and her gorgeous family. While I loved our first session together that we did a few years ago, it is nothing like the love I have for this one. So please, forgive me while I post a bazillion photos of pure happiness and love.

Before a session I talk to my clients [a lot] about what to expect and what you can do to make your photo session even more spectacular. The most important thing is capturing your family and what makes YOU so special. Some families like to play, laugh, and run while others quietly interact and cuddle. Whatever your family is about I want to be a part of. Of course we all want the “posed photos” where everyone is looking at the camera smiling happily (and you will get those too), but seriously that is just not real life. Real life is tickles, cuddles, kisses, crying, laughing, yelling, stomping, smiling, running, falling, and skipping.

Real life….kids hanging out while Mama and Papa steal a moment. Not an eye on me, but the love that radiates out of this photo makes my heart skip a beat.

Real life….sweet hugs and kisses.

Real life….horsing around with Daddy.

Real life….hugs, kisses, and laughs.

Real life….playing with your best sister and new favorite stuffies.

So yeah, real life, real moments. Real life is awesome, but it is not perfect and your kids shouldn’t be expected to be either. Want to know a little secret? Before we even start our session I let the parents know my #1 rule. You are not allowed to discipline your kids during our session. Yep, you heard me right. Me and the kids rule the roost and we say YES! This makes everyone happy and allows the parents to take a break and relax. Trust me, I have crazy 5 year old twins, if I can handle my Crazies, I can handle yours too. =)

Thank you so much T Family for an amazing, fun, and gorgeous session (minus the 100+ combined mosquito bites we all got). =) Love you!!
