With Kindergarten on the oh to near horizon the twins and I have been touring schools and talking a lot about what it means to go to Kindergarten. A few weeks ago I had the privilege of donating a Mini Session to Ponderosa Elementary’s Growing Dreams Auction (if you’re interested in attending the Auction is April 20th). All proceeds from the auction benefit the school children and hopefully provide the children with an Artist in Schools program and sponsor educational field trips. The kids had an absolute blast playing in the halls of Ponderosa and are beyond excited to tour our school next month. While I have mixed feelings (crazy anxiety mixed with exuberant happiness) over my babies heading off to school and leaving me with an empty house (!!!!EMPTY AND QUIET!!!!!) I am so excited for this new phase in their lives.

A year ago the kids and I went “swimming” at Kahneeta and it was sort of a nightmare. The kids were so scared they refused to let go of me for even one minute. It was NOT a fun experience. I dreaded putting them in swim lessons, the crying, whining, and scared not to mention the drama of the actual pool, changing, showering, etc. was way more than I could handle. I thought. Then I put them in swim lessons as our local recreation center and was pleasantly surprised at how well they did, how good the teachers are, and after only 3 months my kids are not only learning to swim, but they are so comfortable in the water now. I am so very happy and proud of how far they’ve both come.

I sit on the sidelines and watch the kids in swim class, but somehow they talked me into actually getting into the pool with them the other day for free swim. The thought of going in the kids pool is kinda gross to me. To compensate what we all know is happening in a kids pool they put TONS of chemicals in the pool. So much that it ate the polish right off of my toenails and turned my sterling silver necklace charm gray. =( Lesson learned, don’t wear jewelry in the pool and don’t waste my time on pedicures if I know I’ll be going in the pool. The kids LOVED having me in there so it was all worth it, all of the three LONG hours we spent in there.

I love these images I took last fall and had plans to do a really big wall art project with one of them until my visually challenged husband informed me he doesn’t really like them. Oops. Back to the drawing board… unless I pretend like I never heard him say that he doesn’t like them and do it anyway (I mean really, will he even notice it on the wall?). =)

To this most beautiful ONE year old!!! And oh my, how I love her so. I don’t normally do “studio” type shots, but as you can see, there are a few exceptions. Fun Cake Smash being one of them. =)

And seriously, did you see that cake! I’m in love, not only was it the most beautiful thing ever, it was seriously yummy.

I should probably be embarrassed to say, but even after the photo above I still grabbed a fork and ate from the other end. I have no shame when it comes to sweets, especially of the cake variety.
